Guard Your Wallet: Unmasking Sneaky Scams on Amazon

Deceptive Deliveries

People are getting surprise packages with things they never ordered. Scammers are trying to get customers to pay for Cash on Delivery or trick them into "verifying" orders by asking for personal information.

Remember, Amazon India won't send you stuff you didn't expect. Check your Order History on our website for details on shipping, customs regulations, rescheduling deliveries, and collection information.

Confirmation Con

Watch out for unexpected calls, texts, or emails claiming there's an unauthorized purchase, urging you to urgently confirm or cancel. Scammers want you to give them payment or bank account info, install software, or buy gift cards.

Amazon India won't contact you about an order you didn't anticipate. For any order-related questions, check your Amazon.in account or the "Amazon Shopping" app. Only real purchases show up in your history, and Customer Service is available 24/7.

Tips to Spot Scams and Keep Safe:

1. Stick to Amazon's official channels.

Always use the Amazon app or website for customer service, tech support, or account changes.

2. Don't fall for false urgency.

Scammers create urgency to pressure you. Be skeptical if someone insists you must act immediately.

3. Never pay over the phone.

Amazon won't ask for payment or gift cards over the phone for products or services.

4. Double-check links.

Real Amazon sites have "amazon.in." Visit our site directly for help with devices, orders, or account changes.

5. Verify email senders.

Legitimate Amazon emails have “@amazon.in”. Hover over the sender's name to check the full address. Watch for misspellings or added characters. Visit the Message Centre for genuine Amazon messages.

For online safety tips, check Security & Privacy on the Amazon Customer Service page.
